Saturday · 12 June 2027 · Hazel Line
Imogen&Caspar
We are getting married under the old coppice row at Hazel Line, and we would very much like you there for all of it.
The invitation
Two days in the valley, one long table
Hazel Line is a working hazel farm at the quiet end of the valley — a stone barn, a gravel yard, an orchard that leans downhill, and the row of coppiced hazel we will stand under at three o'clock.
There is no dance floor to speak of and no seating plan on the Friday. Come early if you can, stay for breakfast if you can, and bring a coat for the evening because the valley cools quickly once the sun drops behind the ridge.

Order of the day
Times, in the order they happen
Nothing here needs a ticket and nothing is compulsory. If you can only make one part of it, make it three o'clock.
Friday 11 June Welcome evening · come if you're nearby
-
6:30pm
Cider in the orchard
Help yourself from the barrels by the long bench. No host, no toasts, no need to tell us you're coming.
-
8:00pm
Supper from the field kitchen
One pot, two puddings, eaten standing up or on the grass. Tick the Friday box on the reply form so we cook enough.
Saturday 12 June The wedding day
-
2:15pm
Doors and parking open
Park on the top meadow — a steward will wave you in. It is a four minute walk down the gravel lane to the yard.
-
3:00pm
Ceremony in the hazel line
Twenty minutes, outdoors, chairs on grass. Please be seated by ten to three; we will start on time because the light is better early.
-
3:30pm
Drinks on the gravel yard
Elderflower, cold beer, something stronger if you ask nicely. Group photographs happen around you, not to you.
-
5:00pm
Supper at the long table
Seated in the stone barn, served family style down the middle. There is a plan for where you sit, and we have thought about it far too much.
-
7:00pm
Three speeches, then cake
Short ones. The cake is a stack of plain sponges and will not survive the evening.
-
8:15pm
Dancing in the barn
Two sets from a four-piece who take requests. Put yours on the reply form and they will pretend they knew it already.
-
11:30pm
Last dance
The barn lights come up slowly. Minibuses leave the top of the lane at 11:45pm sharp.
Sunday 13 June Breakfast · drop in
-
10:00am
Bacon rolls and goodbyes
Kettle on in the orchard until midday. Collect anything you left in the barn before you drive away.
We need numbers for all three days by 2 May so the kitchen can plan.

Hazel Line Farm
A stone barn, a gravel yard and eleven acres of hazel on a slope. It is a farm first and a wedding venue second, which is exactly why we chose it.
- The ceremony is on grass and the yard is loose gravel — stiletto heels will not enjoy either.
- If it rains, the whole ceremony moves inside the barn. We will decide by one o'clock and nobody has to do anything.
- One step into the barn with a ramp beside it; the loos and the bar are both step-free.
- Phone signal comes and goes past the cattle grid. Tell anyone who might need you that you will be out of reach.
- The farm dogs are friendly, elderly and extremely interested in canapés.
Travel & staying
Getting here, and where to sleep
The valley is easier than it looks on a map, but it is not somewhere to arrive at five to three. Give yourself half an hour more than you think you need.
Getting here
- By train
- Trains run to the valley station through the morning and early afternoon. Taxis meet the platform but there are only a handful of them — book one before you travel, or share with whoever else gets off.
- By car
- The last mile is a single-track gravel lane with passing places. Follow the hand-painted hazel signs rather than your satnav, which will try to send you through a ford.
- Parking
- Free on the top meadow from 2:15pm. Cars can stay overnight and be collected before midday on Sunday.
- Minibuses
- Two minibuses run a loop to the village and the market town at 10:30pm and 11:45pm. They are free and they do not wait.
Where to stay
- The village inn
- Eight rooms, ten minutes from the farm, held under our names until 1 May. Mention the wedding when you enquire and they will know which rooms are ours.
- The camping field
- Flat, mown and free for both nights, with hot showers in the old dairy. Bring a torch; there is no lighting beyond the gate.
- The market town
- Twenty-five minutes away with far more rooms and a late-night taxi rank. The better choice if you would rather not share a shower block.
- Travelling together
- Tell us on the reply form if you are happy to share a car or a taxi and we will introduce you to whoever is coming from your direction.
Good to know
The questions people actually ask
If the answer you need is not here, write it in the notes box on the reply form and we will come back to you.
Can we bring our children?
Yes, and plenty are coming. There is a hay bale corner in the barn, a box of games, and a quiet room upstairs if anyone needs to be put down for the night. Tell us their ages on the reply form so we can feed them properly.
What does garden formal actually mean?
Whatever you would wear to a summer party in a field. Linen, a good shirt, a dress you can sit on grass in. No black tie, no morning suits, and genuinely no need to buy anything new. Flat shoes or block heels will serve you far better than stilettos.
What happens if it rains?
Everything moves into the stone barn, which is dry, warm and big enough for all of us. We make the call by one o'clock on the Saturday. Either way the day runs to the same times.
Are you having a gift list?
No list. We have a flat full of things and a kitchen full of chipped mugs we are oddly attached to. If you would like to give something, something homemade, planted or edible would be perfect — otherwise your company is the whole point.
Can I bring someone?
If your invitation names two people, yes. The barn holds one long table and that table has a hard limit, so please ask us before adding anyone else rather than assuming there is room.
How do you handle dietary requirements?
Supper is cooked on the farm and the kitchen can work around almost anything with notice. Write the detail — allergy, intolerance, or simply something you cannot face — in the dietary box by 2 May and it will be handled without fuss on the night.
Is the farm accessible?
Mostly. The lane and yard are firm gravel, the barn has one step with a ramp alongside it, and the loos are step-free. Grass for the ceremony can be soft after rain — let us know and we will arrange a drop-off at the yard gate so nobody has to walk the lane.
Can we take photographs?
All you like, except during the twenty minutes of the ceremony — we would rather see faces than screens. After that, photograph everything, and please share what you take with us afterwards.
Reply
Will you be there?
One form per invitation is plenty. If plans change later, send it again and we will use the most recent reply.
Everything here goes straight to us — nobody else sees it.
